The Guardian ran a competition for kids to describe their dream robot, and they asked me to illustrate them. Joe and Roxie below - see the rest here...
"My robot would be called Joe, he would like to hit things. He would have guns in his hand and put them in his back when he wasn't shooting things because he would be a cowboy robot. My robot would like to jump and fly and have a rocket backpack" by Donnie McKendrick, age 3
"My robot's name would be Roxie, It would make shiny rocks and clean normal rocks. It would be able to do orgami and cleaning house and the most important thing is, it would be my friend - play with me. And it would transform in to what i waNT !!!!" by Aleksandra Kicek, age 11
Hiya, I am Donnie's Mum and I really wanted to thank you for the gorgeous illustration you have done of his robot. He is incredibly proud and has shown a copy that we printed out to everyone at nursery school. It's a fantastic rendition, and as much of a prize as the brilliant robot book that he won. Thank you - Jenny :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny and Donnie - I'm so glad that you both like my drawing of Joe. I have to say that Donnie's description was a dream commission. So imaginative and so funny!
